The art competition is open to all people resident in Lincolnshire.  


The title of the exhibition is ‘Art out of Isolation’ and the medium can be 2D painting, drawing, photography etc (no video), or 3D in any medium eg sculpture, ceramics, or assemblages etc. Maximum size restrictions of 3ft x 2ft (90 x 60cm) will apply for pictorial exhibits. and 3ft x 2ft x 3ft (90 x 60 x 90cm height) for 3D media. 


All submissions must be made using this website ( To submit your work please go to the 'Your Entry' page, complete the registration entry form, and upload digital images of your entry in JPG format (See ‘IMAGES’ below). Entries are restricted to three pieces of work maximum per applicant. All work submitted must have been executed between 2020 and 2022.



The deadline for submissions is 30th June 2022.



Your uploaded entry must be in JPG format (ie with the file extension .jpg or .jpeg) each image having a file size no larger than 3.0MB. Entrants may submit one image of each work (ie a maximum of three images). For 2D work please take the photograph head on with a minimum of surrounding content that is not part of the work (eg easels), and for 3D work please take the photograph against a plain background.


All 2D entrants whose work has been selected must ensure that their work is framed to a reasonable standard to allow mirror 

plates to be fitted by gallery staff.(No Metal Frames)


Judging will be by a panel of experts and some members of the Usher Gallery Trust. Selection will take place in July and early August’22.


Entrants will be advised by email, in mid to late August’22 if their work has been selected for exhibition or not selected. The decisions of the selection panel will be final and no discussion will be entered into after the decision has been made.


An exhibition of the selected work will take place at The Usher Gallery from 1st October’22 - 7th January'23.  


The selection panel will award prizes to the following values: £500 (1st prize), £300 (2nd prize), £150.00 (3rd prize) and £100.00 to the 18 year of age or under category. There will also be a 'People's choice' prize of £300 based on votes collected by visitors to the gallery. 


A 30% commission will be taken off all sales, please consider this if you price your work. The price stated on the submission form is the exhibition selling price inclusive of the commission. Payment will be made to the artist within 28 days of the end of the exhibition.



Selected works will be treated with the utmost care on the stated delivery date. The Usher Gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage to artwork whilst in their possession however caused. The Usher Gallery does not make provision for individual insurance of works of art. Exhibitors are responsible for arranging their own insurance to cover damage or loss to their artwork either in transit or whilst at the gallery.


By entering the competition, the artist confirms that they hold all intellectual property rights in the work, and that they have obtained prior written approval for the use of any third party copyrighted material contained in the submitted work. Artists will allow the work to be photographed and reproduced by the organisers for both publicity and marketing purposes, in digital and print format. Copyright of all work remains the property of the artist.


In accordance with the data protection Act 2018 (and all other relevant Data Protection Legislation), the Usher Gallery will hold the personal data of artists supplied on the Entry Form securely. The data will only be used in the process of administering the competition and exhibition and will not be transferred to any third party not directly involved in this exhibition.
